Bible Verses for Starting Over

Life can be so wonderfully measured by seasons and stages. Fall begins with the shedding of colorful leaves; winter begins with a cold bed of snow; spring begins with the sprouting of new life; and summer begins with warm sunny days.

Starting over again is not an easy thing to do, but worths it. God himself sees all of the time from beginning to end, and He tells us the same thing He told Israel back then: “Forget the former things, do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing!” (Isaiah 43:18-19). Starting over is never easy. But give your concerns to the Lord.

Here is what the bible says about starting over;

Ecclesiastes 3:1-5

Lamentations 3:22-24

If we are Christ’s followers, He is making us new. God’s timing may not be ours, it may not happen as quickly as we would like.

Bible Characters Who Got a Fresh Start

Everyone has probably had a time in their lives when they felt like everything is going wrong.

Maybe you overslept, messed up our shirt with coffee, and now you’re running late for a meeting. Automatically your day kicks off with a terrible start, and things can only grow worse.

Well, you’re not alone. Even many of the Bible’s most famous characters had rough days. Moses couldn’t speak well and so he stuttered when he spoke.

Abraham told a lie about his wife being his sister because he feared for his own life. David had to commit adultery and then had Uriah killed to cover it up.

But just because these characters made such mistakes doesn’t mean their stories failed. Most of them went on to have greater success after making a fresh start. God was always willing to forgive them and help them start over again.

You may be facing a difficult time right now. You may feel stuck in a dead-end job thinking it’s over for you or that your life is going nowhere.

You may feel you’re at the lowest point of your career and that there’s no way out. I want to tell you that there is still hope. There is always hope.

This Joseph was born into slavery but rose to prominence because he refused to give up on his dreams. He was faced with many challenges along the way, but he kept moving forward. He never stopped believing in his God.

If Joseph was able to achieve his dreams, then so can you do the same? It won’t be easy, but with determination and faith, you can overcome every obstacle. Don’t give up on yourself, let that be the last thing on your mind because you are worth fighting for.

  • Zacchaeus: A Tax Collector’s Transformation

When Zacchaeus sat up on the tree, he was desperately waiting to see Jesus. May have been a tax collector, but that didn’t mean Zacchaeus was bad. He became one of the most honest people in town. He just wanted a chance to meet Jesus and change his ways.

And that’s exactly what happened. When Jesus saw him, he called him down from the tree. He said, “Zacchaeus, come down quickly, for today I must stay at your house.” (Luke 19:5). Zacchaeus was full of happiness when he heard this that he promised to give half of his possessions to the less-privilege and to repay anyone he had cheated four times over.

Jesus gave Zacchaeus a fresh start, and he made the most of it. Just think about what could happen if you gave yourself a fresh start today.

Bible Verses About Rebuilding Your Life

The Bible also helps us rebuild our lives physically and spiritually. Proverbs 2 tells us to build our entire life on the Word, in the Word, and through the Word.

In other words, we are told to be intentional, purposeful, and practical about prioritizing God’s Word – which is God’s Wisdom.

Here are some Bible Verses that will help you rebuild your life.

Isaiah 61:4-9

They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the LORD for the display of his splendor. They will rebuild the ancient ruins and restore the places long devastated; they will renew the ruined cities that have been devastated for generations……-

Isaiah 61:4-9

This text talks about God rebuilding and giving restoration of life to things long dead. If God can rebuild and give restoration to ruined cities, how much more are his children?

Isaiah 9:10

The bricks have fallen down, but we will rebuild with dressed stone; the fig trees have been felled, but we will replace them with cedars.-

Isaiah 9:10

So if you ever feel down and broken, this is yet another bible verse that talks about rebuilding and restoration of life.  God is capable of rebuilding brokenness. If you had been broken in any aspect of life, these bible verses were written to restore you and give you hope.

God is a God of New Beginnings

God all through generations has been given opportunities to start a new with his people! What a loving and faithful God we have. This is a deeply beneficial message for a time such as this.

Let’s be clear that all these people were not given restoration because they deserved it. They didn’t receive fresh starts because of what they would do but rather because of what God would do.

2 Kings 19:31

For out of Jerusalem will come a remnant, and out of Mount Zion a band of survivors. The zeal of the LORD Almighty will accomplish this.-

2 Kings 19:31

How interesting that the verse doesn’t say “the power of the Lord” but rather “the zeal of the Lord” will accomplish it.

God’s intense feelings or passion toward His people is what drives Him to over and over again provide His people with new beginnings.
