God never said life would be easy Bible Verse

God never said life would be easy bible verse

God never said life would be easy bible verse says more about god’s love for all creation than it does about fire and brimstone. The Bible teaches us how god loves and what god has done for us, but it also reveals his great expectations for us to demonstrate agape love to our brothers and sisters, regardless of race, gender, and nationality.

Many times life throws a lot of garbage at us, and as Christians, we try so hard to keep the faith but somehow doubt creeps its way into our mind, where the war takes place. Have you ever been in situations where you drop everything look up to the ceiling and wish you were not in existence? Have you ever wondered if the grounds could open and swallow you? Have you ever been so put down that you give up? Jesus says, “Take heart! For I have overcome the world”.

God never said life would be easy Bible Verse

John 16:33

These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.-

John 16:33(KJV)

John 16:33 KJV

Jesus’s statement here simply tells us that life will be filled with ups and down. This message is one of the most important messages shared by  Saint John. This word sheds light on the reality of this world and still encourages us that no matter what challenges life comes with, we have someone who overcame the world already and holds the key to thing in it. Becoming a Christian does not spell easy life all over it, but we know the victory that we have in Christ Jesus.

What Bible Verse Says Do Not Pray for an Easy Life?

Proverbs 24:10

If you faint in the day of adversity, your strength is small.-

Proverbs 24:10 KJV

Proverbs 24:10 KJV

This Bible verse does not say it as it is, but it throws light on the fact that born-again believers have to be strong and be ready for life’s punches and knocks. So instead of praying for an easy life, pray for dunamis(power) to overcome a hard one. Just the way our lord Jesus picked up the cross and was beaten, wounded, and killed, but still overcame death, poverty and sin, we must fortify ourselves with the word of God as our armor and weapons ready for the battles in life. We need the tenacity to remain standing in times of tribulations.

Proverbs 13:11

Money that comes easily disappears quickly, but the money that is gathered little by little will grow.-

Proverbs 13:11 KJV

Proverbs 13:11 KJV

Also, looking at it from the wisdom of the advice given in this passage, if you pray for an easy life, easy money, easy road, to mention a few and you get it, as you didn’t go through the step-by-step path of planting, waiting and reaping, those things will easily fade away. Life is not easy and many times when you get things easily, you get them the wrong way, and as we know the repercussions of fast wealth are scattering. We must gather little by little and this may seem hard but we learn a lot in the process.

What Does The Bible Say About an Easy Life?

In as much as  God wants our lives to be smooth, he wants it to be in him, he said in him we will find peace but in the world tribulations. The peace spoken about here is not peace and satisfaction that we can get from friends and riches. He said this peace passes all understanding (Philippians 4:6). For instance in your time of pain and suffering, if you are in Christ, you will not understand how depression is far from you and how you are basking in joy despite the troubles.

Matthew 11:28-30

Come to me, all who labor and are heavily laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”-

Matthew 11:28-30 KJV

Matthew 11:28-30 KJV

Instead of suffering in the world, Christ says take my yoke upon you for it is easy. He is simply saying to bring the problems you are facing in this world, drop them at his feet and pick up his burden. Because God is all-knowing, he can carry your sorrows. He is aware of what he will do. He knows of his intentions. Our shortcomings and worries are already known to Him. In addition to bearing your worry, he will also send you his Holy Spirit to give you strength and serenity.

1 Peter 5:7

Casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.-

I Peter 5:7 KJV

1 Peter 5:7 KJV

Peter who was one of the Twelve, having had a first-hand experience of life with Jesus, writes to the Chruch. In Peter’s letter to the church, he commands them to cast their anxiety on God after he learns of their life being tested. Simply put, take your troubles to Jesus, and even amid hardship and tribulations you will be standing tall, only if you stand in Christ Jesus.

Psalm 13:1

How long wilt thou forget me, O LORD? forever? How long wilt thou hide thy face from me?-

Psalm 13:1 KJV

Psalm 13:1 KJV

In this book, the psalmist talks to the Lord, and you can feel the deep anguish in his writing tone and the questions that exclaim how long? Other books by David tell of the hardships in life but also praise God because He delivers us from them all. In John 16:33, Jesus mentions that the Christian life will not be easy, but there is a piece of good news attached to it, and it is the overcoming power in his death.

What Does the Bible Say About When Life Gets Hard?

Christ-followers who effectively withstand the influence and enticement of the world’s system are known as overcomers. Despite not being sinless, an overcomer maintains their trust in Christ to the very end. When things go tough, he doesn’t give up or apostatizes. However, whilst living here on earth, God has given us victory.  When life gets hard, we must be strong and maintain the joy of the lord and then get down on our knees to pray. James 5:16 says the effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

 Luke 18:1

And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint.-

Luke 18:1 KJV

 Luke 18:1 KJV

Remember! If we faint in times of adversity, our strength is small, but the word of God is saying we must pray when we face hard times because it reveals the way to escape from those situations.

Keep in mind that Jesus was a pious person who would always be praying for His followers. Therefore, we must remain steadfast in prayer.

“Give me children, Jacob, or else I die”. Rachel pleaded with him. The Canaanite woman persisted in prayer after being first ignored. Jacob held on tight despite having a severely damaged leg. Pray!

God Never Promised a Life Without Pain

Many portions of the Bible explain that life will not just be a bed of roses and in fact, Christ sounded a warning to his disciples that following Him and working boldly in faith can lead to persecution.

John 16:1‭-‬2

I have told you these things so that you won’t abandon your faith. For you will be expelled from the synagogues, and the time is coming when those who kill you will think they are doing a holy service for God.-

John 16:1-2(KJV)

John 16:1‭-‬2 KJV

God did not promise us a life without pain but our joy is that his strength is made perfect in our weaknesses. Christ has already won the battle, therefore no matter the trials, no matter how long it takes, we know we are victors.

Mark 4:39

And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.-

Mark 4:39 KJV

Mark 4:39 KJV

In the Scriptures, the children of God encountered a natural disaster (storm) at different times. When the disciples were caught in a storm with Jesus Christ and they began to fret and panic, but Jesus Christ tagged them as people of little faith, He rebuked the wind, and everywhere was calm.

Storms in our lives can be those times when things get tough and we face challenges that may seem too much to bear. Just the way natural storms are inevitable, so are the storms of life. But when we follow the steps of Jesus Christ living in righteousness and prayer, we can say to that storm “Be calm”. It will hear our voice and things in our lives will turn around for the better.

Christianity is Not Easy

Why should I struggle this much in life even after remaining consistent with God? Doesn’t God care? These are questions we contend with as Christians. Hopefully, we know the answers to this are many. Soldiers go through the toughest training to stand fearless, the best gold is suspended in the hottest fire and we go through all these hardships to come out refined and resilient.

Work out your salvation with fear and trembling despite perilous seasons. The Christian life is not easy and the Bible talks about it in different ways, but this is not to cause fear and make us lose faith, instead it is to prepare us for what comes as we face life head-on. Sugarcoating the whole thing will be deceiving and could lead to our doom, God does not want that for us and so he lets us know ahead of time.
