Good Night Bible Verse

God’s Word can bring you comfort and peace in the night’s darkest moment. Letting worries keep you up doesn’t allow the words of God which is functional, to take effect.

To this effect, there are some scriptures here that will help you rest in God’s peace.

Meanwhile, it is often seen when most people are asleep at night, others remain awake to worries and anxiety.

Many others are also confronted with life-challenging experiences throughout the night, as referenced in some of the Bible verses, the words of God tend to calm all manner of anxiety or worry, all you need to do is adopt them and believe.

Numerous scriptural verses are amazing for reading before we sleep. These are scriptural verses that either mention sleep or trust in God to protect us while we sleep through the night.

Many of us have been there, suffering from insomnia or worst. Middle of the night. Darkness all around. Stars shining brightly high. All is quiet and calm. Everything is so peaceful.  Except for one singular issue.  We can’t sleep.

Thoughts swirling, anxieties pressing hard. Peace feels so far away. Fears becoming too big in the dark. It’s hard to think with clarity.

Too many things are happening at the same time, and all these things can keep us wide awake.

Maybe the children woke you up, or the pet. Maybe it’s just a nightmare. Or something isn’t just right with your body. Worries, stress, money issues, deep loss, or grief can hijack precious hours of sleep away.

Illness, disease, or pain that we or our loved ones might be experiencing, can cause true rest to be a frequent battle. Sometimes even the pain of broken relationships brings great heaviness and grief to the soul.

Unforgiveness, resentment, and anger, emotional trauma make it difficult to turn off our thoughts and find rest again.

Recently when families walk through a very difficult trial, we find ourselves there. Night after night, we will be awakened by the deep hurt and pain in my heart.

We will pray, cry, we longed just to sleep again. But often, the only thing we can find that could bring peace and comfort to our spirit is God’s Word.

Saying out loud every verse that comes to mind and praying with faith is a powerful reminder to God.

Sometimes reading chapter after chapter, until sleep comes again, is another trick .but for some when awaken, the Bible will still be laying open, right over their chest, and Won’t necessarily make all their troubles go away.

There’s no magic involved for an instant solution. The truth is when you wake up, the pain will still be there. But through time, you’ll realize that: your mind, heart, and spirit will be renewed day by day, night by night.

God’s peace, healing, and comfort were washing over you every time you spoke his words, believing them to be true.

Are you desperate for help?  God is here. Closer than you could imagine,  He still is.

His words are living, active, powerful, and sharper than a two-edged sword. They are the only thing that can bring man true peace in life, whether it be through the brightness of days, or in the darkest of nights.

If you find yourself there right now,  walking through a difficult hardship and still struggling with fear-filled thoughts or overwhelming scary feelings in the night.

Here are some Bible verses for your sleep that will help to heal and restore your peace. Allow the Scriptures to calm your mind so you will experience a good night’s rest.

What does the Bible say about Sleep?

The contextual meaning of the word sleep means to rest from stress or a busy day, it is a way of giving your body the rest it requires in order not to break down.

In the Bible, sleep is portrayed in two forms;

  • Rest
  • Laziness

When a man is weary and faced with so many challenges of life that only comes to discourage his faith, all he needs is a reaffirmation of God’s word which will bring rest to his soul.

Matthew 11:28-29

28 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavily laden, and I will give you rest.

29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.-

Matthew 11:28-29

But the sleep in the Bible that is referred to as laziness is one that God attributes to foolish people, people who are not ready to make meaning out of their lives.

These could also be people who are not in Christ, who do not believe in his resurrection power, or in God himself.

This person a dead to the light and until they repent they will have no true peace.

1 Thessalonians 4:13-14

13 But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope.

14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus.-
