Job Specifications
A driven and proficient Principal Mechanical Engineer is needed by AECOM Edmonton to assist with the design and building of intricate water and wastewater treatment facilities, such as treatment plants and pumping stations. In order to provide our client base in Alberta with advanced treatment and pumping station projects, you will collaborate in a team setting with junior, intermediate, and senior engineers.
Obligations
- Acquainted with applicable codes and the requirements of federal and provincial regulations.
- Complete complex technical work on your own
- Help with the creation of deliverables and products, including cost estimates, presentation materials, computations, drawings, specifications, and drawings pertaining to projects involving water and wastewater.
- Conduct field research to ensure that construction documents reflect current conditions.
- Carry out construction administration tasks, including reviewing shop drawings, responding to requests for information, inspecting construction, and answering client inquiries.
- Oversee projects and collaborate with engineers from different fields.
- Have strong presentation and client-facing abilities and operate in a project team setting.
- When it comes to anticipating and resolving routine and unusual project delivery issues, technical and client challenges, identifying technical objectives and requirements, planning programs and projects, and creating standards and guidelines for technical activities and applications, show creativity, foresight, and mature judgment.
- Keep up with professional obligations as well as industry norms and practices.
Comply with AECOM’s quality control and health and safety procedures. - Assist junior employees.
Requirements
Minimum Conditions
- A bachelor’s degree in mechanical or environmental engineering with six years of process mechanical design experience, ideally gained in an engineering business.
- Experience in the design of mechanical equipment and pipelines for water and wastewater processes.
- Familiarity with general engineering requirements and experience supervising construction.
- In Alberta, a registered professional engineer or one who is authorized to register
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Ability to physically access tunnels, utility manholes, and other areas with mechanical equipment and climb ladders
- AB Class V Driver’s License in Validity
Desired Qualifications
- Over ten years of varied expertise with water and wastewater
- Proficiency in overseeing intricate multidisciplinary projects
- BIM360, AutoCAD, REVIT, and project experience as well as familiarity with ISO quality management systems
- Outstanding communication both in writing and speaking
- Outstanding focus on detail
